“ I joined the fat art therapy group as a way to process some internalized fat phobia I knew I was dealing with. I have been doing solo therapy for many years now, and my therapist has often incorporated elements of art therapy, which has worked really well for me. So, I was excited by the thought of a free group art therapy series. It was my first time doing group therapy of any kind, and I didn’t know what to expect. But I found that the space that was created was very genuine and welcoming.
Every week, we had a very thorough and thoughtful email sent out to us to help us prepare and reflect. As someone who has autism, this was so grounding and set my body at ease. I am also a creative, and I found that the group influenced changes in my art. More so, the gentle pacing of each session topic as foundational to the next helped to progress my personal interrogation of the relationship I have with ideas of fatness and fatphobia in meaningful and digestible ways.
I loved my time in this group and the insights and wisdom that everyone shared. I found that being in a group often felt vulnerable, but was equally rewarding. Often, someone would say something that profoundly affected another person in the group, or myself and that helped us all grow. It was really a beautiful experience.” -KZ

I was so pleasantly surprised at my first art therapy session. I didn’t expect to go so deep into myself so easily and quickly. It felt like a very natural process that helped me learn more about myself and come to some important realizations to help me move forward in a way that felt true to me.
Chantal’s guidance was supportive and intuitive. She creates a space where self-reflection is comfortable and safe.
I have seen several counsellors throughout my life, and I can honestly say that Chantal helped me delve right to the point, the crux of my troubles, without going through all sorts of history and backstory. She guided me to go right to where I needed to go.
I’ve never felt that a counselling session was so much about me and not about the counsellor wanting to know every detail.

I met Chantal through a post about an art therapy opportunity. I asked about an individual session as I had missed the group session and was directed to Chantal. I was seeking something to change up my very stuck feelings. I was dealing with some very difficult family dynamics and thought maybe art therapy would work. I had no idea what art therapy was. Meeting and working with Chantal online for a short time was extremely beneficial. From the first session, I could feel that she was personable and caring. She had me share my story and asked what I was looking for in the sessions. She guided me through some relaxation and stretching exercises. She gave some homework, and we worked on some creative artwork during sessions. She didn't push if there was an art form I didn't feel comfortable doing. She reassured me that whatever I was doing was art, and it didn't need to be a certain way or specific. She reminded me that I was creative in so many things that I do. She introduced me to zentangles. She is so encouraging and a good listener. What I like most about Chantal is that she is so down to earth, funny, and she's an encourager. I imagine I will work with her again, and I feel others can benefit from her therapeutic skills.
