Art Therapy with Seniors
Personal Care Offered At Home
Art therapy sessions tailored to older adults are offered in assisted living communities, memory care units, and care homes.
My work is strength-based, person-centred, and grounded in somatic and mindfulness practices. I believe everyone deserves access to joy, beauty, and self-expression throughout their entire life; art therapy is one avenue to help make that possible.
Indevidual Sessions
One-on-one sessions are tailored entirely to where the client is, right now. Singing, crafting, painting, storytelling, even a shared joke. Each activity is chosen to help that person connect and engage in whatever way works best for them. This work opens space for life review, storytelling, and meaning-making, and offers a sense of autonomy through choice at a time when other aspects of independence may be shifting.

Memory Care
Memory care sessions, one-on-one or in a group, use art and creative expression to meet clients where they are. Activities and art invitations are highly adaptable to all abilities, focusing on sensory engagement, familiar rhythms, and moments of connection rather than outcome or accuracy. This is more than craft hour; it's about keeping the mind engaged and active in a way that's joyous and innovative, even as memory changes.

Groups
Group sessions bring residents together to create, connect, and get to know one another. Some run as a set series with a defined progression from session to session; others are ongoing weekly gatherings that build familiarity and community over time. I keep groups small, so every individual still gets the attention they deserve. Groups typically take place at assisted living facilities, where I'm brought in by the facility to work with residents.

Create and Conquer is located in Winnipeg, on Treaty 1 territory. The traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Red River Métis.
Acknowledging this is only a small part of building real, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities, building relationships rooted in honesty about the past and genuine commitment to the work of reconciliation. I hold this awareness as I show up in this work, recognizing the unearned privilege I carry as a settler on this land.
